2011
In 2011, Malaysia was granted approval to export frozen durian pulp and paste to China, marking the starting point of Malaysian durians entering the Chinese market. This milestone laid the foundation for regulatory coordination and market access between both countries.
2018
In 2018, Malaysia officially received approval to export frozen whole-fruit durians to China. From that point until 2022, the export value of Malaysian durians grew by 256.3%, with China becoming the largest importer.
2024
Malaysia officially obtained approval to export fresh durians to China. In August , the first batch of fresh durians was successfully air-freighted to China, marking a strategic shift from frozen products to fresh fruit exports.
